1. Can I run TrimTrac Mobile software on any cellphone? TrimTrac Mobile software will run on Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system only. There are two versions of Windows Mobile software: Smartphone and Pocket PC. The Pocket PC version uses a Keyboard and touch screen. Smartphone version has no QWERTY keyboard. TrimTrac mobile will not run on Nokia or other phone manufacturers devices that use the Symbian .operating system 2. Which version of Windows Mobile will run on my cellphone? TrimTrac Mobile software will run on Windows Mobile 5.0 only. It will not run on previous versions of Windows operating systems such as CE or 2003 versions. 3. Which network will my TrimTrac Mobile work on? TrimTrac locator runs on the Worldwide GSM System only, using Short Messaging Service (SMS) the short messaging service (SMS). The software will run on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and needs an active data connection to access digital mapping. 4. How Many TrimTrac locator devices will run on my Windows Mobile phone? There is no limit on the number of TrimTrac locator devices on either the Smartphone or Pocket PC versions. 5. Where in the world will the TrimTrac Mobile software work? The TrimTrac Mobile system will work anywhere. The TrimTrac Locator needs GSM network to send location messages and GPS to get them. The Windows Mobile 5.0 device needs to be able to receive the SMS messages from a network and an active data connection to get the digital mapping. The GSM system will hold the SMS message for up to 72 hours. So if the host device is out of coverage (say on a flight) then the SMS message from the locator will be delivered on reconnection to the network. 6. What can I track with my TrimTrac Mobile System? Anything that moves outdoors and can easily be tracked. 7. Will the TrimTrac locator work inside a building? The TrimTrac locator uses signals from GPS satellites to get a position. If those signals are blocked then it will not get a position. However the TrimTrac will report movement activation even if it cannot get a position fix. The TrimTrac locator has very sophisticated GPS capabilities and will receive signals inside vehicles and often inside single story buildings. 8. Do I have to buy mapping transactions? The TrimTrac software is designed to receive location messages from the locators and store all the positions on a database. The last 30 positions are stored for display in the software. TrimTrac Mobile software also stores all the received messages in an archive file which can be easily synced with a desktop windows PC. The format of the archive file is CSV and can easily be transferred into many Microsoft applications like Excel and Access for analysis. The positions can also easily be displayed in Microsoft AutoRoute, Street and Trips and MapPoint Desktop. 9. Which countries are covered by TrimTrac Mobile Mapping? TrimTrac Mobile uses Microsoft MapPoint Web Server mapping which has global mapping. Street level mapping is available for North America, Europe and Asia pacific (Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan) . 10. How long will the batteries last on my TrimTrac Locator device? Tests have proven that the TrimTrac locator will last up to three months on four AA batteries. The locator uses a sensor to detect movement which activates the GPS to get a location and then activates the GSM module to send the location to your Windows Mobile Device. The locator then goes into sleep mode to save power. The Locator can send up to ten messages day for several months. 11. Why do I have to provide the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card for my TrimTrac locators? You can choose your own subscription contract.
